Crook Takes King
Crook Takes King was made in my 2nd year at University, our first project working in groups. I animated and made the storyboards for this short, which was nominated for an RTS Yorkshire Student award in 2020.
First of all I mocked up the King's bedroom using Maya, then I drew over those 3D renders to make the first draft of the storyboard based on our Director's script. As a team we discussed the boards, then I worked with Hannah Holliman to edit the boards and create an animatic.
Part of the fun of storyboarding was coming up with funny pictures on the wall to show the King's relationship with his crown. The director then wanted them to look pretty grey and dirty to contrast the rest of the animation.
For this project we all focused on our individual scenes, doing all of the roughs tie-downs and clean up. Here's a selection of the ones I took from storyboard to finished product.
